The Metropolitan Ensemble has an extensive wedding repertoire, and is experienced with helping to plan the music in the ceremony. The combination of flute and strings is unique and lovely for weddings. There is no other group in Kansas City with our versatile instrumentation. We can add the oboe or clarinet for a majestic entrance, for example. We can also provide a duo for more intimate settings. We have traditional Jewish wedding selections as well, please scroll down to view them

" My husband and I were married on April 4th. Our ceremony was absolutely beautiful, in large part due to the music. We contacted the Metropolitan Ensemble before the Wedding and they immediately sent us a cd of them playing their most requested wedding songs. The first time I played the cd, I literally cried...it was THAT breathtaking! We hired them, picked the music, and told them where and when the wedding would be, and described the Chapel. They took over from there, and we were freed up to plan the rest of our wedding.
The wedding went off without a hitch, and the music was even more amazing than I could have imagined! Of every detail of our wedding, friends and family commented the most on the music. I would recommend, without hesitation, the Metropolitan Ensemble to any couple planning a wedding. They helped make our most special day perfect."

What musical style is appropriate before and during the ceremony?

Pre-ceremony:
15-30 minutes prior as guests arrive and parents are seated. A mix of baroque and classical is usually played at this time.If requested, we also have romantic selections.

Wedding Party Processional:
A piece with a comfortable pace for the wedding party to proceed down the aisle.Pachelbel Canon, Bach Air, Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring are all a good tempo for this.

Bridal Processional:
This piece is usually stately, with a slow "walking tempo" Such as the Trumpet Voluntary by Clarke, or Purcell's Trumpet Tune, Handel's Air, or anything the bride desires!

Interlude:
Selections played during the ceremony, such as the candle-lighting. Slow pieces are ideal for this, such as Bach's Ave Maria, Franck's Panis Angelicus, or the Andante from Haydn's London Trio No.1
Recessional:
A piece which immediatley follows the announcement of the new couple. It is usually bright, celebratory, and at a fast tempo, such as Vivaldi's Spring, Handel's La Rejouissance, or Hornpipe, Beethoven's Ode to Joy, or the Allegro from Haydn's London Trio No. 1.
